Updating your software.

It’s a good idea to update your phone’s software regularly. Updating your software gives you new features, keeps your phone running smoothly and can fix a lot of common problems. It should always be one of the first things you do if you’re having problems with your phone.

Before you can update your phone, make sure your battery is fully charged. You should also make sure that you've backed up your personal data, like contacts, that are stored on your phone.

Software updates need to be approved by mobile networks before your phone will allow you to update your software. If you're using a phone that you didn't get from us, an update may not be available at the same time as it would be for a phone that came from Three.

Your Samsung phone will automatically notify you if there's a new update. You can then download and install the software update to your phone. If you've switched this feature off then you should search for updates manually.

To check updates manually:


  1. On the homescreen, tap Menu then Settings

  2. Tap About phone

  3. Tap Software update

  4. Tap Check for update

  5. You'll be asked to set up a Samsung account to continue. Please follow the onscreen instructions to set up an account

    Your phone will now check for updates.

    Note: Checking and downloading software updates will use data included in your plan. If you have a data limit, check My3 to see if you have enough data left.


To update your software:


  1. When an Install software dialogue box appears on your screen, tap Install now

  2. Tap OK

    The software on your phone will now have been updated.

    Backing up and syncing.

    You should back up the data on your phone from time to time to make sure all of your information is safe.

    To do this, go to the Samsung's website and enter the model of your phone in the search bar. You can then download the Samsung Kies software for your phone.
