Unlocking a Three device to use on another network.

After you’ve requested an unlock code.

We’ll send a code within 72 hours of your request, along with instructions on what to do next. If we can’t get the code ourselves, we’ll make sure to work with the manufacturer of your device to get a code for you. This takes a further 72 hours for Apple devices, or a further 5-7 days for non-Apple devices. This means that the process can take up to 10 days for a non-Apple device, so don’t worry if you don’t receive your code instantly. We’re working hard to get it to you as quickly as we can!

Apple devices.

If you’ve recently bought or upgraded an iPhone from Three, it'll be unlocked as soon as you activate it over Wi-Fi or connect it to iTunes on your computer.

If your device is running iOS7 or above, you can connect to iTunes and do a restore of your device to unlock it. You may want to back up your content before doing this, as restoring your device will delete all its data. If you’re running an older version of iOS, you can ask us to unlock it by filling in our online form above.

Note: If you have a Three iPad you'll still need to fill in the above unlock form.

Non-Apple devices.

If you want to unlock a phone or Mobile Broadband device from Three to use it with a SIM from another network, you’ll need to fill in the form on the link at the top of the page. But there are a few things you need to know first:

  • If you don’t have a Three account, you’ll need to get a Three SIM to get your device unlocked. You can order a free Pay As You Go SIM online, or you can buy one from your local Three store for £1.99. You can then use those account details to fill in the form above.
  • When filling in the form, please make sure that your personal details like your name and address match up exactly to the ones you see on your bill. They have to be the details of the account owner. If they don’t match these we may not be able to unlock your device.
