Managing data roaming settings on your phone.

Changing the data roaming settings on your phone will depend on which software version your phone uses. You can find out which software version your phone uses here.


All iPhones.

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Tap Network
  4. Switch Data roaming to off or on

BlackBerry OS 6 or above.

  1. From the Menu, select Options or Manage Connections
  2. Select Networks and Connections
  3. Select Mobile Network
  4. Select On/Off next to While Roaming

BlackBerry OS 5 or below.

  1. From the Menu, select Options or Manage Connections
  2. Select Mobile Networks
  3. Select On/Off next to While Roaming

Android version 4.0 (Some Sony, HTC & Samsung Galaxy phones).

  1. Open the Applications menu and tap Settings
  2. Tap Mobile network
  3. Tap Data roaming
  4. If you don't want to use data abroad, change Data roaming to Never. If you want to use data abroad, change Data roaming to Automatic
  5. If you switch roaming to automatic, you'll see the message: Allow data roaming? You may incur significant roaming charges! Tap OK

Android 2.3 or below (Some Sony, HTC & Samsung Galaxy phones).

  1. Tap the Menu button
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap Wireless & Network
  4. Tap Mobile networks
  5. Check or uncheck data roaming depending on what you want to do. If you have a choice you can select to disable, to roam nationally or to roam on all networks
  6. If you switch roaming on, you'll see the message: Allow data roaming? You may incur significant roaming charges! Tap OK

Symbian (Most Nokia & Sony Ericsson phones).

  1. From the Menu, tap Settings
  2. Tap Connectivity
  3. Tap Settings
  4. If you don't want to use data abroad, change Data use when abroad to WLAN only or the other way round if you want to use your data abroad

Windows Phone 7 (For example Nokia Lumia).

  1. Tap Settings
  2. Tap Mobile network
  3. Tap the Data roaming options and change to roam or don't roam
