Using your phone as a Personal Hotspot.

The steps below are based on using the latest software. If the screenshots or steps look different to you, you should update your software, to keep your phone working smoothly and securely.

Personal Hotspot lets you connect up to five other Wi-Fi enabled devices to the internet using your iPhone (also known as tethering).

Before using Personal Hotspot, you should check whether your contract or internet Add-on includes tethering. You can find out more information about tethering on your phone here.

To use your iPhone as a Personal Hotspot:

  1. Tap Settings

  2. Tap Personal Hotspot

  3. Switch Personal Hotspot on

  4. You can choose whether you'd like to connect to your iPhone using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or using the USB cable

  5. If you're connecting using Wi-Fi, you'll need to enter the Wi-Fi Password into the device you'd like to connect to your iPhone

  6. If you've chosen to connect using the USB cable, tap USB Only then plug your iPhone into your computer

You should now be able to connect to the internet.

Choosing to use Personal Hotspot using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth will switch both these options on. To save your battery, you should switch Personal Hotspot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth back off when you're finished using it.

    To switch off Personal Hotspot:

  7. Tap Settings

    To switch off Wi-Fi:
