Find my iPad.

The steps below are based on using the latest software. If the screenshots or steps look different to you, you should update your software, to keep your iPad working smoothly and securely.

Apple offer a free service called Find my iPhone which lets you track your iPhone, iPad and Mac if you've misplaced it. Find my iPhone is compatible with:

  • iPhone 3GS and above
  • all types of iPad
  • 4th generation iPod Touch.

You can make your iPad play a sound, make a message appear on the screen, set up a passcode and even erase all data on your iPad if you don't think you'll get it back.

You'll need to make sure that your iPad is signed in using your Apple ID and that Find my iPhone is switched on.

If you've lost your iPad, you can find it by going to www.iCloud.com on a computer or by downloading the Find my iPhone app onto a friend's iPhone or iPad. Find out more about using Find my iPhone.

To make sure Find my iPad is switched on:

  1. On your homescreen, tap Settings

  2. Tap iCloud

  3. Make sure Find My iPad is switched on.
