Updating your software.

It’s a good idea to update your phone’s software regularly. Updating your software gives you new features, keeps your phone running smoothly and can fix a lot of common problems. It should always be one of the first things you do if you’re having problems with your phone.

When you update your BlackBerry, you should make sure that your computer is connected to the internet and that you have BlackBerry Desktop Software installed. Check that you've backed up your BlackBerry to your computer so you don't lose any important information on your phone.

Software updates need to be approved by mobile networks before your phone will allow you to update your software. If you're using a phone that you didn't get from us, an update may not be available at the same time as it would be for a phone that came from Three.

To update your software:

  1. Open the Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry to your computer
  2. To check for any available updates select Device and Update my device

  3. The Desktop Software will check to see if there are any software updates available. If there are no updates available, click View other versions. If there are updates available, check the update box
  4. Select Install

  1. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the update. Make sure you back up your BlackBerry when asked

Note: It can take up to 30 minutes for a BlackBerry update to complete. Don't disconnect your BlackBerry from your computer until the update has finished.

If you get a message from BlackBerry during the upgrade process, check the do not ask me again box to continue downloading the update.

The software on your phone will now be updated.

If you've updated your software because you were having a problem with your device, has this fixed the problem?
