Backing up with iCloud.

The steps below are based on using the latest software. If the screenshots or steps look different to you, you should update your software, to keep your phone working smoothly and securely.

It's a good idea to regularly back up your iPhone in case it gets lost, stolen or damaged. With iCloud, you can back up your contacts, calendar, pictures, apps and settings. When you sign up for iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. Once you've set up iCloud it'll automatically save your content when you connect to Wi-Fi.

To back up your iPhone using iCloud:

  1. Tap Settings

  2. Tap Sign in to your iPhone or Your account if you’ve already entered your Apple ID

  3. Enter your Apple ID and password then tap Sign In. If you don't have an Apple ID, tap Create a new Apple ID and follow the onscreen instructions

  4. Choose what you want to back up

  5. Tap iCloud Backup

  6. Switch iCloud Backup on if it isn't switched on already

  7. Tap Back Up Now.

    Note: You need to be connected to Wi-Fi to use iCloud Backup.
