Connecting to the internet.

The steps below are based on using the latest software. If the screenshots or steps look different to you, you should update your software, to keep your phone working smoothly and securely.

There are two ways for you to connect to the internet on your iPhone. You can connect either using our network or using Wi-Fi.

If you bought your iPhone from us, you shouldn't need to do anything to use our network to connect to the internet. When you activated your iPhone, it'll have automatically updated your settings to let you access the internet.

But if you didn't buy your iPhone from us, you might need to update your settings.

Find out how to:

Update your settings.

Connect to Wi-Fi.

To update your settings:

  1. Tap Settings

  2. Tap General

  3. Tap About

  4. After about 15 seconds, a Carrier Settings Update box may appear. If it does, tap Update

  5. If the update doesn't appear on your iPhone, you can update the carrier settings using iTunes. You'll need to have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer. Once you've downloaded iTunes:

  6. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable

  7. On your computer, open iTunes

  8. Select your iPhone on the top right of iTunes

  9. Select Check for Update

  10. If a carrier settings update is available, select Download and Update. You may be prompted to update your software if you're not running the latest iOS software version

You can also connect to the internet using Wi-Fi if you have a Wi-Fi connection at home or work.

To connect to Wi-Fi:

  1. Tap Settings

  2. Tap Wi-Fi

  3. Switch Wi-Fi on

  4. Available Wi-Fi networks will appear under Choose a Network...

  5. Tap on the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to
